Biography

Pete Gardner was born in the UK, and emigrated to Australia in 2002, becoming an Australian citizen in 2010. His career as an optometrist has given him the great opportunity to live and/or work in every state and territory of Australia, exploring this magnificent continent. His camera has constantly accompanied him throughout his journey.

Having a great love of the natural world, as a student at the university of Bradford in the 1990's, Pete spent every spare weekend caving in the Yorkshire Dales, or mountaineering in Snowdonia, The Lake District and the Scottish highlands. These adventures were enthusiastically documented on 35mm film as he built his skills in landscape and cave photography. After graduation, Pete took up scuba diving, and found true passion for the world beneath the waves.

Following his move to Australia, his love of photography moved underwater, rarely diving without a camera, Pete became an accomplished underwater photographer.

Pete settled in Perth in 2011 to raise his new family, since this time he has developed his skills in portrait and family photography.

Whilst completing a course of formal photography training through the Australian Open College, Pete started shooting live music events as part of an assignment. Finding an instant love and thrill for the genre he can now be found in the photo pit shooting local and touring bands in and around Perth concert venues most weekends.
